The Psychedelic Furs
One of those groups that everyone had heard before they broke through (a la Human League).
Anecdotal note: their gig down the old Music Machine (now Koko, the worst venue in London imo) in late 79/early 80 remains the only concert I’ve had to leave for reasons of personal safety (rather than being unable to stand straight).

I was there too... and I remember a remark by this friend of mine visiting from Berlin while we were standing left of the stage on the stairs listening to this great concert and looking down at this colorful carpet of dyed hair, "amazing how polite and friendly everybody around here is". There you go...
