The Grid - Music For Dancing

I've already posted the remix-tastic Texas Cowboys and Swamp Thing CDS's here, but this 1995 slice of techno goodness came up via my Squeeze Centre's radom play t'other day and reminded me just how good they were.

01 Floatation (Subsonic Grid Mix)
02 Crystal Clear (456 Mix)
03 Boom! (Freestyle Mix)
04 Figure of 8 (Tribal Trance Mix)
05 Rollercoaster (Nemesis Mix)
06 Texas Cowboy (Ricochet Mix)
07 Swamp Thing (Southern Comfort Mix)
08 Crystal Clear (Frankster Prophet Mix)
09 Figure of 8 (Todd's Master Dub)
10 Diablo (The Devil Rides Out Mix)
11 Rollercoaster (Yellow Submarine Retake)

Just been borrowed and ripped UBS Dave’s CD singles (will be doing his albums next week) and a very nice collection of early/mid 90’s electronica it is too.

Here’s a couple of things for you

First The Grid – Texas Cowboys and Swamp Thing, both full of remixes that, to my knowledge, didn’t appear anywhere else.

Secondly Orbital – The Box (originally off In Sides) which seems to have been conceived as a sort of mini-album. Unually for the NME, they actually said something relevant about it in a review . . .

What you get with 'The Box' is a four- for- the- price- of- one bargain pack complete with sinister John Barry meets Charlie Chan thriller refrain, a wonderful piece of overblown harpsichord pomp, gently spooked knob-twiddling weirdness, irresistible crystal-clear techno riffs and angelic vocals. Action packed and well worth opening.

Anyway, enjoy.
