Get yourself a Bush MTT1 turntable. £50 from Richer Sounds, cheaper if you hunt around the web.

Reviews of it are universally excellent. It’s got a pre-amp in it, this means that you can plug it straight into the back of your PC with the aid of a “stereo jack to Phono splitter” which spilts a single stereo 3.5mm jack plug into 2 female phono sockets (£3.99 from Tandy).

I use Total Recorder to grab the sound off the sound card, it’ll save as pretty much whatever you can think of (.wav, mp3, ogg etc)

Audacity will enable you to cut up the Side1.mp3 into individual tracks.Tag&Rename is invaluable for creating the ID tags.

ADB recommends Fairy Liquid and warm water for cleaning purposes.

Then it’s up into the loft, retrieve the old vinyl and wallow in the nostalgia!
